When Kylie was diagnosed with cancer in January of 2005, her parents never imagined she would never leave the hospital again. Because she was unable to leave, friends and family joined together to decorate her room and help bring the “sunshine” into her room. She was not alone in this situation. There were may more children who were not well enough to leave the hospital for some time.
After Kylie passed away in May of 2005, her parents began a “Skylight of Hope” campaign in order to enhance the physical surroundings of children fighting life-threatening illnesses. If they are unable to go outside, we want to bring the “outdoors inside”, and in turn inspire the hope that resides within each of them.
